AANI Lagos Chapter Honors 57th ICAN President, LASU VC

The Lagos chapter of the Alumni Association of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, hosted the 2022 edition of its “Members Dinner Award.” It was an opportunity for technocrats, scholars, business leaders, administrators and military officers who had passed through NIPSS to network and share ideas.

 

In her opening remarks the Chairman of AANI, Lagos Chapter Mrs. Omolara Balogun, mni, said the criteria for selecting the two awardees Professor (Mrs) Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos and Mrs. Comfort Olu Eyitayo, mni, CFA, FCA the 57th President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Nigeria (ICAN), was strategic and in full recognition of members that have distinguished themselves in their professions.

 

She said the alumni association of NIPSS was committed to strengthening the role of the prestigious Institute in promoting national development.

 

The representative of the Lagos state Governor and Permanent Secretary, Special Duties, Mr. Sesan Ogundeko, mni, commended the National Institute on its role in policy formulation and implementation, enabling it to support governments in improving administration and governance. He said Lagos is also a beneficiary of the policies developed by NIPSS to address socio-economic challenges. 

 

The Permanent Secretary  was happy that the two awardees were women who have excelled in a “Male-dominated environment.” According to him, the recipients of the awards demonstrated that women make a positive impact when they lead organizations or institutions. 

 

In his special remarks, the Director-General of NIPPS, Prof. Ayo Omotayo, lauded the awardees for excelling and serving as worthy ambassadors of the national policy and strategy think tank.

 

Highlights of the event were the citation and presentation of awards to the honorees.

 

Elder statesman and member of the NIPPS, Prince Julius Adewale Adelusi-Adeluyi, mni, reminded the AANI Lagos chapter that they must continue to promote the NIPPS values of integrity, character and positive influence on society.

 

The dinner awards night was moderated by the Chairman of Proshare, Mr. Olufemi Awoyemi, mni and also had in attendance the first lady of Lagos State, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu.
