President Muhammadu Buhari in his Eid-El-Kabirmessage to all Muslims and Nigerians, has vowed to deal with every form ofterrorism, extremism and vices fuelling insecurity and tensions in the country.
He congratulated muslims as they celebratethe Sallah season and charged them to abhor every form of extremism and avoidthose who are propagating such messages.
President Muhammadu Buhari likenedextremism to cancer that must be detected from its early stages of growth anddestroyed.
He called for religious tolerance andpromised Nigerians that his administration will leave no stone unturned inguaranteeing the security of Nigerians.
According to him “Islamis a religion of peace and we should avoid violent extremist ideas that giveIslam a wrong name because our conduct leave more lasting positive impressionsthan what we say by word of mouth.’’
Speaking on the activities of the deadly Boko Haramsect, Buhari said “Boko Haram became a deadly force and a major securityscourge because Muslim societies were indifferent from the beginning to theactivities of extremist preachers who manipulate innocent and gulliblefollowers.’’
The President restated his commitment tothe security of the nation, even as the military and the police will continueto be equipped and motivated to give their best in tackling insurgents andsecuring the country.
President Buhari is currently in hishometown Daura, Katsina state to celebrate the Eid Mubarak day and isalso playing host to his Guinean counterpart, President Alpha Conde.
Monday and Tuesday (August 12thand 13th, 2019) will be observed as public holidays to mark Eid-El-Kabir.
