In a review of last week’s trading performance, the domestic open market saw an upward pressure in the price of grain commodities except for Sorghum. The domestic market also saw Paddy rice prices maintain a 2-week upward trend. This is on the back of the low supply of the commodity amidst high demand.
In the domestic market, Cocoa gained for the third consecutive week, gaining 6.07%. This is on the back of higher demand for the commodity against its available supply.
Maize stood as the only gainer on the Exchange W-o-W, appreciating 0.97%.
The AEI outperformed the ASI and S&P GSCI Agriculture Index on a week-on-week basis, recording a 4.44% gain against a decline of 6.67% and 0.97% of the other indices. This is reflective of positive market movements in the domestic price of Ginger and Cocoa.
